Graphic Communications Overview

Graphic Designers are communicators who convey information through the use of language, type, imagery and symbols. The Bachelor of Fine Arts Program in Graphic Communications at the University of Houston provides students with the methodologies and techniques to become graphic designers fully able participate within the profession. Houston, a large dynamic city, offers numerous opportunities to become professionally engaged. Course work investigates current culture and society; design history and theory; method and practice; and technology and communication, all within a graphic design context. Students are instructed using current technologies and develop portfolios that include a wide range of work: identity systems, print based graphics, book design, posters, web and motion.
Students in the program come from diverse backgrounds and form a vital component of the program. The University of Houston encompasses a large number of programs and faculty with distinguished areas of expertise that expand the students’ range of knowledge. Faculty work closely with students and allow each one to achieve their creative potential.
